The railway connecting Azerbaijan and Iran will be launched on December 25, said the Iranian Railroad Company's Director General for International Affairs Abbas Nazari, iran.ru reported.

According to Abbas Nazari, Azerbaijan and Iran discussed customs procedures and the issuance of visas, as well as the use of cargo terminal in the Iranian city of Astara, Mehr News reported.

The Astara-Astara railway stretches for eight kilometers along Azerbaijan up to the board with Iran, where it extends to the Iranian city of Astara. The project also includes a bridge on the Astarachai River that flows along the border.
