YEREVAN. – The Armenian side has ample testimonies and evidence regarding the Armenian pogroms in Sumgait and Baku in Azerbaijan; but they need to be voiced again.

Armen Ashotyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, told about the aforementioned to reporters, following Thursday’s meeting of this committee.

In his words, this is because new people have entered politics in the US, Europe, and even in Russia over the past thirty years, and they are not sufficiently informed about the tragic events that had occurred in Azerbaijan.

“It’s our duty to always keep this topic on the agenda,” Ashotyan added, in particular.

In his view, there is a major problem due to the lack of respective awareness by international community. Thus, according to the MP, the hearings on the Armenian pogroms in Sumgait, and which will be convened at the Armenian NA on February 22, can have a positive impact on the awareness by international community.
