The law on Donbas reintegration entered into force on Sunday, UNIAN Info reported.

According to the law, February 20, 2014 is the official date of the beginning of the temporary occupation of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.

The law on Donbas reintegration determines government policies and ensures Ukrainian state sovereignty in the temporarily occupied territories of Donbas.

According to the law, the responsibility for material or moral damage caused to Ukraine as a result of Russian aggression rests with Russia in accordance with generally recognized principles and norms of international law.

The law also states that persons who participate in Russian armed aggression or involved in Russian occupation administration are criminally liable for violations of Ukrainian legislation and international humanitarian law.
