The United States Geological Survey reported that an earthquake, measuring magnitude 5, has occurred in southern Iran, according to Gazeta.ru news site of Russia. 

The epicenter of this tremor was 51km northeast of Bandar Abbas port city and capital of Hormozgān Province. 

The hypocenter of this quake was 10km beneath the surface.

There are no reports on any casualties or devastation.
