Former South Korean Prime Minister Kim Jong-pil has died aged 92, AP reported. 

The politician died at Seoul's Soonchunhyang University Hospital because of age-related complications.

Kim John Phiel was born on January 7, 1926. He graduated from the Korean Military Academy in 1949. Kim was a key member of a 1961 coup that put army Maj. Gen. Park Chung-hee in power until his 1979 assassination.

Kim Jong-pil twice served as South Korean prime minister from 1971 to 1975 and from 1998 to 2000.
