STEPANAKERT. – Nagorno-Karabakh welcomes the encouraging results of the talks between the Armenian Prime Minister and the Azerbaijani President in Dushanbe, the spokesperson for Artsakh president David Babayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am

His remark came in response to comment on the latest developments around the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

"What is happening recently, clearly demonstrates the nature of Azerbaijan and its leadership. Acceptable statements are sounded on reducing tensions, meanwhile the rallies are held in Baku with the demand “to return Karabakh.” The reality is that the goal of Azerbaijan is the destruction of the Armenian statehood both in Armenia and Artsakh,” Babayan said.

According to him, the current situation on the line of contact is relatively calm.

“However, it's necessary to be on alert and remember who we are dealing with. Azerbaijan fulfills neither oral agreements, nor written ones, as well as violates ICRC, the UN Charter, its own Constitution and legislation. The April 2016 war is a vivid example. We must always remember that we are dealing with a terrorist state,” David Babayan concluded.

As reported earlier, within the meeting in Dushabne, Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev had a short dialogue. Meanwhile, a rally with the demand “to return Karabakh” was held in Baku.
