YEREVAN. – No agreement has been reached as a result of the talk between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and MPs of the National Assembly NA factions.

NA Vice President Eduard Sharmazanov, who is also a member of the parliamentary faction of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia, told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

As per Sharmazanov, at the meeting each side expressed its view on the present-day situation.

“An agreement was reached to meet in the coming days and discuss again,” he said. “We have said our view and noted that the amendment to the NA Rules of Procedure is no obstacle before snap [parliamentary] elections.”

Also, the NA deputy speaker said Pashinyan had come to parliament to inform that he planned to hold a snap parliamentary election in December.

“We haven’t agreed anything,” Eduard Sharmazanov added, in particular. “The only thing we said [was] that the interest of the state should reign supreme, and we shall not lead the country to shocks. [But] at the same time, the principle of separation of powers and the principle of independence of the National Assembly should be respected.”
