The meaning of our appeal is to protect the lives of Armenian and Azerbaijani young people aged 18-20, Armenian Prime Minister’s wife Anna Hakobyan said on Sunday.

Her remark came at the combat positions on the front line during her visit to the Nagorno-Karabakh together with the participants of “Women for Peace” initiative.

As reported earlier, within Women for Peace initiative, Anna Hakobyan together with Russian leaders of the public, political, literary and media circles visited Karabakh.

“I should have started by thanking us for being in Nagorno-Karabakh now, and in fact, for being in a war zone. But I cannot do it, because what you are doing is beyond praise. You came from Russia to Nagorno-Karabakh to say “NO” to the war,” said Hakobyan.

She urged Azerbaijani mothers to join them, to appeal to those who make political decisions.

According to Anna Hakobyan, distrust from that side is unjustified, since there is no political implication in “Women for Peace” initiative.

“We give in to men the heavy duty of finding solutions to the conflict. We are only asking to spare young lives of both sides,” she said.

She also asked the Russian delegation to visit the front line from the Azerbaijani side, so that there would be no doubt about the impartiality of the “Women for Peace” initiative.
