YEREVAN. – Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP) Chairman Arthur Baghdasaryan, who also heads this political force’s electoral list in the snap parliamentary election in Armenia, on Sunday cast his respective ballot.

Subsequently, Baghdasaryan told reporters that he had voted for Armenia’s development.

“I voted for the benefit of Armenia’s development, for governing the country with innovative, smart programs, [and for] the creation of new jobs,” he said. “Overall, voting is in progress in normal fashion; we have no reports [yet] in connection with [any] electoral fraud.”

The first ever snap parliamentary election in Armenia’s history is underway Sunday.

Eleven political forces—two alliances and nine parties—are running for the National Assembly (NA).

As a result of this election, the NA seats will be distributed proportionally among the political forces that have passed the respective minimum thresholds: 5% for parties, and 7% for alliances.

The Constitution of Armenia guarantees the presence of at least three political forces in the legislature.
