Russian President Vladimir Putin did not congratulate Nikol Pashinyan, who heads the My Step block, on his victory in the early parliamentary elections.

“We are disposed to a constructive dialogue with the new parliament of Armenia - and the cabinet of ministers which is yet to be formed - in an effort to strengthen the cooperation between our countries, also the frameworks of the EAEU, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Commonwealth of Independent States,” Maria Zakharova, Russian foreign ministry spokesperson, told reporters at a briefing.

Citing observers’ reports evaluating the overall conduct of the process as positive and in line with the legislation, she noted that the elections were monitored also by Russian specialists, members of the State Duma and the Federation Council, Tert.am reported.

On April 2, 2017, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Serzh Sargsyan on his victory in the elections.

Besides Vladimir Putin, Nikol Pashinyan has not yet been congratulated by the leaders of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
