Democratic Party Senator Kamala Harris from the state California has announced that she is going to run for the US presidential election in 2020, hoping to become President Donald Trump’s opponent for this office.

The first-term senator has portrayed herself as a fighter for justice, decency, and equality.

Harris, the daughter of immigrants from India and Jamaica, launched her campaign for the White House on Monday—America’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday—in an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America.

Kamala Harris is the former attorney general of California.

Since arriving in the Senate in 2016, Harris has built a reputation for bringing a prosecutorial style of questioning to hearings with Trump nominees.
