People are interested in all the details of the recent talk—in Davos, Switzerland—with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, but the disclosure of everything is not ethical.

Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated the above-said during Friday’s press conference at the Moscow headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission—the executive body of the Eurasian Economic Union which comprises Armenia, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.

He assured that in essence, there were no concrete results in these negotiations because this was “just a contact,” whereas concrete results were achieved last year in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan.

“Neither Aliyev nor I nor one else anyone else expected results [in Davos],” Pashinyan said. “Of course, we have spoken about the Karabakh conflict. In fact, that wasn’t a negotiation, but rather an informal contact.”

Armenia’s PM noted that he and Azerbaijan’s president spoke about their vision for this matter, and how the peoples of the two countries perceive these issues.

At the same time, Nikol Pashinyan stressed that he spoke with Ilham Aliyev solely on behalf of Armenia.

“I have repeatedly said that I can represent Armenia, but not the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh [(Artsakh)] because the residents of Karabakh have not elected me,” the PM concluded. “They elect their [own] president and their [own] government.”
