Bugatti, which manufactures some of the world’s fastest and most powerful cars, is stepping up a notch with La Voiture Noire. Announced this morning, it is the most expensive new car ever commissioned, honouring perhaps the most beautiful car of all time, the 1938 Bugatti Type 57 Atlantic, Telegraph reported.

The new car has been unveiled at the annual Geneva Motor Show where it will surely prove to be one of the stars. The Type 57 Atlantic, which it seeks to evoke, has attained almost mythical status within the car world.

Only four were ever made and three still exist, one of which is the centrepiece of Ralph Lauren’s celebrated collection.
