Premier Nikol Pashinyan today received Vice-President of the European Commission and EU Commissioner for Digital Single Market Andrus Ansip.

With satisfaction, the Premier mentioned that the frequent official reciprocal visits of high-ranking Armenian and EU officials attest to the high level of political dialogue and the full agenda for cooperation. Nikol Pashinyan assessed his March 4-5 visit to Brussels as effective and stated that issues on the expansion of bilateral partnership with the leaders of EU institutions were discussed during the visit.

The EU Commissioner for Digital Single Market presented the current policy on the creation of a digital single market in the EU and stated that the EU is ready to deepen partnership with Armenia in the field of information and high technologies and share its experience and achievements.

After exchanging views on the introduction of e-governance tools and the current programs in the fields of IT and telecommunication, the interlocutors discussed the perspectives for implementation of new joint programs. They particularly touched upon issues on the digitization of public services and the expansion of the scope of online services, increase of public awareness about those services, enhancement of skills in using digital technologies and the promotion of partnership in several other directions. An agreement was reached to launch discussions on having a common digital program that will feature the priorities for the Armenia-EU partnership in this direction.

The Premier assigned Deputy Premier Mher Grigoryan and Minister of Transport, Communication and Information Technologies Hakob Arshakyan to be in constant contact with the EU counterparts and work jointly on the development of directions for partnership in the fields of information technologies and digitization.
