Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Development Suren Papikyan today received Head of Public Sector East Division of the European Investment Bank Lionel Rapaille, reports the Department of Public Relations of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development.

Cordially greeting the attendees, Minister Papikyan stated that he was glad to host the partners of the European Investment Bank and interpret the achievements recorded as a result of cooperation. Suren Papikyan highly appreciated the effective support that the EIB has provided for the development of energy and road infrastructures, modernization of border checkpoints, solid waste management and improvement of the capacities of different communities in Armenia.

In his turn, Lionel Rapaille expressed gratitude for accepting the offer to meet and noted that the priorities proclaimed by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the perspective of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership give a new impetus to the plans for institutional cooperation. Lionel Rapaille expressed certainty that the financial tools and technical assistance measures offered by the EIB will help implement the infrastructure development programs that require speedy solutions in Armenia, reaffirming the EIB’s support to the efforts that Armenia’s new government is making in these directions.

During the meeting, the parties outlined issues on the extensive cooperation agenda such as the development of road infrastructures, modernization of water supply and water disposal systems, improvement of public transport networks, increase of seismic security in schools and exploitation of a solid waste management system.
