Nursultan Nazarbayev had a phone talk with the Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, Tengrinews.kz reported referring to Akorda’s press service.

The Armenian President praised Nursultan Nazarbayev's role in the formation and development of Kazakh-Armenian relations based on mutually profitable cooperation and for the benefit of the two nations.

Armen Sarkissian also highlighted that Nursultan Nazarbayev is one of the most respected politicians of our time who greatly contributed to the strengthening of stability and security worldwide.

As reported earlier, Kazakh President Nazarbayev on March 19 announced his resignation. He will retain the post of head of the country's security council and leader of the ruling party. Elections will be held only next year.
