The self-sacrifices of the soldiers of the Four-Day Artsakh War of April 2016 contributed to the velvet revolution and made the people unite once again around the idea of creating a new Armenia. This is what Deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly, veteran of the Artsakh war Sasun Mikayelyan told journalists at Yerablur Military Pantheon on 2 April.

“The Four-Day Artsakh War was a lesson for us. The war showed that the people can unite. Young and old soldiers went to the border and fought to defend our land and borders,” Mikayelyan said.

Sasun Mikayelyan also touched upon the statement that Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Davit Tonoyan made in New York (Tonoyan reformulated the “territories for peace” principle as “new war for new territories”) and stated that Armenians always have to be ready for war.

Mikayelyan said the Azerbaijanis have never come to participate in negotiations. “The meeting of Nikol Pashinyan and Ilham Aliyev was not a negotiation, but a discussion on a certain issue,” he said.
