The Armenia Ministry of Emergency Situations intends to appeal to the Yerevan Mayor’s Office regarding numerous violations of town planning norms, Armenian Emergency Situations Minister Felix Tsolakyan told reporters on Friday.

He referred on barriers installed without permission by residents and tenants of offices, construction of buildings close to each other, as well as on lack of fire-fighting measures.

Asked to comment on shelters, the minister said that there are nearly 300 shelters in the republic, most of them are in an unusable condition, and some are generally privatized.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations proposes not to take away the acquired property from the owners, but to oblige them to start reparation works in order to allow it to be used on condition that it is released upon first demand.
