Facebook has offered $ 3 million to the American media outlets for a one-year license to post their content in a new tab of the social network, The Wall Street Journal reported referring to its sources. 

According to them, the outlets pitched by Facebook on its news tab include Walt Disney Co.’s ABC News, Wall Street Journal parent Dow Jones, The Washington Post, and Bloomberg.

A new news tab may appear on Facebook this fall.

According to the publication, Facebook is ready to give the mentioned media freedom of choice in how exactly the materials will appear in a new tab. The first option will include direct posting of the article on Facebook, and the second one - the placement of only the title, upon opening which the user will automatically follow the link to the media site.

Sources of the newspaper draw attention to the fact that Facebook plans to use the recommendations of its media partners to improve the news tab.
