Eight prisoners were hospitalized after a riot in a prison in Northern California, while a total of 50 people were affected during the riots, CNN reported

The incident occurred at about 11 am when about 200 prisoners started a fight in the courtyard of a correctional institution in Soledad.

The prisoners refused to comply with the requirements of the staff, as a result of which special equipment was used. The correctional staff also fired nine warning shots.

Eight hospitalized prisoners were injured, including stab wounds, cuts, and bruises in the head, neck, and trunk. They are in stable condition. None of the prison staff was injured during the riots.
