President of the United States Donald Trump reiterated the need to rejoin the G7 and make it G8 again, The Hill reported.

According to him, “it is much more appropriate to have Russia” as part of this group. Trump said he would support the proposal if someone decides to invite Russian President Vladimir Putin to the G7 summit.

The statement comes several days ahead of his trip to France for an annual G7 meeting of the of France, Italy, Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Germany.

Russia was slung out of G8 after the 2014 events in Ukraine.
