The Venice Commission is ready to provide its advisory opinion (amicus curiae opinion) on the case of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan. This is stated in the press release issued by the Constitutional Court of Armenia.

The press release reads as follows:

“In relation to the application filed by the Constitutional Court to the Venice Commission for an advisory opinion on the cases adopted through an examination conducted by the Constitutional Court based on the applications of the first instance court of general jurisdiction of Yerevan and Robert Kocharyan, the Staff of the Constitutional Court informs that:

On August 20, 2019, in a letter addressed to President of the Constitutional Court, Mr. Hrayr Tovmasyan, Director and Secretary of the Venice Commission Thomas Markert informed that the Commission is ready to provide its advisory opinion (amicus curiae opinion)."
