STEPANAKERT. – President of the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic), Bako Sahakyan, on Monday attended the official opening of the international Armenian studies conference, entitled “Eastern Armenia: History and Culture.”

In his welcoming remarks, the President stressed the academic and practical value of this conference, noting that such events enable to provide a more substantive and objective overview of the chapters of Armenian history, identify the causality of diverse developments and bring it to the attention of international community, Central Information Department of the Office of the Republic of Artsakh President informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“It’s even more important now, when there are countries and circles that apply a politicized approach towards historical facts, seeking to offer distorted narrative of history and present it in the light of vested interests,” Sahakyan added. “The best way to respond to all these attempts is to hold such events—within this very format and with this very agenda.”
