YEREVAN. – The Sharm El Sheikh-Yerevan direct flight, which was delayed Sunday, has been conducted. Hripsime Stambulyan, the Air Cairo airline official representative in Armenia, on Monday told about this to Armenian News-NEWS.am. She said the plane conducting this flight had landed in Yerevan on Monday, at 1:20am local time.

“There were about 120 passengers, not 50,” Stambulyan said. “Air Cairo airline operates regular flights throughout the year. If a flight is delayed six hours, then it provides food to passengers. If the delay lasts more than six hours, then it provides a transfer and a hotel. We are now trying to find out exactly what the problem was.”

She noted that there are frequent flight delays at airports in August.

“It’s a normal phenomenon,” she added. “They have accommodated all the passengers in hotels until the flight was conducted. No passengers were left at the airport for ten hours. They accommodated all the passengers in hotels within about two hours.”

As reported earlier, Facebook user Aram Gevorgyan had written Sunday that about 50 to 55 Yerevan-bound Armenian citizens had remained at the Sharm El Sheikh airport, in Egypt, for over ten hours.
