YEREVAN. – Edgar Arakelyan, a deputy of the majority My Step faction at the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, on Wednesday submitted to the NA President his written petition to give up his parliamentary seat. Arakelyan himself told about this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to the NA Rules of Procedure, however, a deputy may withdraw his respective petition within a week.

If the MP withdraws his petition to resign from his parliamentary mandate, the NA President makes a respective statement.

But if he does not withdraw his petition, a protocol is drawn up on the termination of his parliamentary powers, and which the NA President signs and makes public.

The giving up of his parliamentary seat is considered accepted once the protocol is made public.

As reported earlier, Edgar Arakelyan had announced about resigning from his parliamentary mandate.
