Armenia does not intend to stimulate or support illegal migration, Armenian Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan told reporters on Friday.

His remarks came in response to comment on the expulsion of a group of Armenian citizens from Germany.

Citizens claim to have been treated in Germany, now treatment has become impossible.

The Minister noted the existence of a readmission deal.

“Armenia will not stimulate illegal migration. The choice is either all according to the law, or not according to the law. It’s impossible to combine,” the FM noted.

As for how this happens, the minister noted that the German authorities first informed, provided the opportunity to leave. If the opposite side does not take steps to obtain refugee status, to complete all legal processes, to receive a certificate that treatment is possible in Germany or about the impossibility of traveling, an expulsion should follow.

“The question is about life and fate. Everyone expresses their emotions differently and reflect reality. But one thing is clear - we cannot support illegal migration. It is important for us to expand the capabilities of Armenian citizens and contacts with EU member states,” the FM noted.
