The US will continue to exert pressure on the Taliban to fulfill the commitments made in the peace talks, while not reducing military support for the Afghan forces, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.

“I think as you saw, if the Taliban don't behave, if they don't deliver ... the President of the United States is not going to reduce the pressure," Pompeo said,” he told CNN.

He noted that the Taliban went too far by blowing up the car in a diplomatic area near the US Embassy in Kabul, killing an American soldier and 11 more people.

According to Pompeo, the Taliban should change their behavior but he did not specify whether the peace talks would resume.

Trump did not decide whether he would withdraw American troops from Afghanistan, but warned the Taliban of renewed military pressure if they continued to attack, he said.
