What resignation? We’ve barely begun. This is what Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan told journalists after the session of the Council of Elders of Yerevan today, touching upon news about his resignation.

“We have returned 6,500 square meters of our kindergartens to the community and increased our city’s budget. We’re restoring parks, reviewing all unlawful tenders and illegal acts of privatization and launching big construction projects. What resignation? Yerevan Municipality had almost no equipment in the past, but now it has so much technical equipment that we can be independent and implement our tasks. How can I think about resigning after all this?” Marutyan declared.

As reported earlier, Irates newspaper had written that this fall will be the last one for Mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan since he will submit his resignation letter, and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will have to sign it since the mayor has left the city in a poor condition in terms of the economy, transportation and garbage disposal and has become one of the serious reasons for Pashinyan’s low rating.
