Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is not enthusiastic about the mining industry but urged not to demonize the mining industry.

“I would like to not talk about this topic at all. We are in a state of conflict and must consider the worst options. God forbid if war, what will be the biggest economic and security problems? There will be a shortage of currency. While tourism is currency sources for the country. But if there is war in the country, this source is running out. Export of products will also cease for obvious reason,” he said adding that the only source is mining.

Demonizing mining means striking a security blow, he noted.

According to Pashinyan, it is necessary not only to develop the mining industry, but to go further and export not ore, but ingots.

“Gold mines are even more important in terms of security. Build a gold refining plant in Armenia. That it was a means of payment, on which we could purchase weapons,” PM said.
