YEREVAN. – The group of Sanitek waste management company employees, who are staging a protest outside the Yerevan Municipality, attempted to block the street, but the police did not allow this, a scuffle began between them, and the law enforcement officers pushed these picketers out of the street.

Until then, however, this demonstration was peaceful.

These Sanitek workers were saying that they were waiting for the Yerevan city hall to submit the document stating that it had transferred the money to Sanitek, and therefore the latter’s employees could get their unpaid salaries from this amount.

“[But] the boss of the company says, ‘They haven’t transferred [it],’ the municipality says, ‘We have transferred [it],’” a protester said. “We don’t trust anyone. Let the municipality say to Sanitek, ‘Why don’t you give these people’s money?’”

Subsequently, the protesters tried to enter the municipality building by force, but the police formed a human chain blocking the entrance to the building.

Eventually, these Sanitek employees agreed to wait for the city hall to submit this document.

They are demanding their salaries for August.
