YEREVAN. – I have made a decision to appoint National Security Service Deputy Director Eduard Martirosyan as temporary acting National Security Service director. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting of the government of Armenia.

He added that First Deputy Chief of Police Arman Sargsyan has been appointed Acting Chief of Police.

“I would like to inform [you] that this is a status defined by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, and in that status, our colleagues have full authority to administer over the two systems,” Pashinyan added. “I want to wish success and congratulations to our colleagues.

“[But] formally, we are waiting for the signing and publicizing of these decrees by the President.”

As reported earlier, Chief of Police Valeriy Osipyan and National Security Service Director Artur Vanetsyan have submitted their resignations.
