Armenia has a huge winemaking potential, but because of an increase in tourism sector we are not able to increase the exports, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during the Italy-Armenia business forum.

Asked by one of the participants about Armenian wines, which he described as “one of the best in the world”, Armenian PM said: “I would not dare to say that the Armenian wine is the best in the world when I am in Italy”.

Pashinyan pointed to a new branch in winemaking that is emerging in Armenia, the so-called fruit wines.

“We have huge increase in fruit wine exports, around 64 %,” he said.

Armenian PM said fruit wines are very popular in China, but, unfortunately, Armenia, for clear reasons, will not be able to fulfill all expectations of the Chinese market.
