YEREVAN. – All that contributes in the context of peace, launching actions in the logic of peace, and to pursuing negotiations in this way, naturally, all steps are justified in this respect. . Lilit Makunts, head of the majority My Step faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, said this in a conversation with journalists in the NA today, referring to recent mutual visits of Armenian and Azerbaijani journalists.

Asked if this contributes to the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) negotiation process and the settlement of the problem, Makunts responded: “I don't see any problem with the mutual visits of journalists. As for what will contribute and what kind of atmosphere and what kind of climate for peace we see, we have already talked about it. There's nothing new to say here."

And in response to the observation that the Azerbaijani side has recently intensified the activities of the “Azerbaijani community” of Nagorno-Karabakh, and asked why these activities have intensified after the revolution in Armenia, Makunts responded: "I do not agree with these accentuations because in reality, there has been no particular change in the political speech of Azerbaijan. The aggression that existed before and was manifested differently still exists. That is what we are regularly voicing on the platforms of parliamentary diplomacy that Azerbaijan's political discourse and rhetoric do not change. This is one of the important and necessary conditions for peace. In other words, I do not agree that it’s after the revolution [in Armenia] that Azerbaijan's political rhetoric has become such. This has always been the case and, unfortunately, it has not changed. But that does not mean we should not pursue and go along the path we have indicated."
