There is political consideration in any law. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan declared in parliament today, touching upon the criticism of the bill on sending members of the Constitutional Court to early pension according to which this is being for political consideration and is personalized.

“There is political consideration in any law, and the criticism is nonsensical. The situation in the Constitutional Court doesn’t comply with the situation stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, and if solutions aren’t provided, it will go on like this until 2035. Those who made amendments to the Constitution in 2015 changed the way the judges and president of the Constitutional Court would be elected, but due to certain actions and falsehood, the situation is such that the Constitutional Court can’t be the way it is stipulated by the Constitution. The political consideration is that Armenia needs to be brought into compliance with the constitutional order,” he said.

When told that people are asking why the crisis has to be solved at the expense of taxpayers, Pashinyan said the following: “If we don’t solve the crisis, we will still pay with the money of taxpayers. There is no difference. Let’s assume the members of the Constitutional Court don’t go on pension early. We’re still going to pay the same amount of money and have a Constitutional Court that is not stipulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.”
