YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities are currently negotiating with Russia on the purchase of two ferries for cargo transportation via the Black Sea. Mikayel Melkumyan, Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration and MP of the opposition Prosperous Armenia Party, said this at the December 18 press conference in the NA.

According to him, when the Kerch Bridge was built, the Russian side had several free ferries that interested Armenia. "And I think this issue can be resolved at an absolutely acceptable price," Melkumyan added. "The negotiations are in process."

He is convinced that sometime thereafter, Armenia, following Kazakhstan's example, will be able to open a terminal in Poti.
