The ruling political elite in Armenia is convinced that there should be authorities in Artsakh that fully coordinate their policies with it, first Ombudswoman of Armenia Larisa Alaverdyan told reporters on Monday.

Highlighting the importance of the upcoming elections in Artsakh, Larisa Alaverdyan noted the inadmissibility of statements calling into question the legitimacy of the previous authorities of Artsakh.

"The authorities of Artsakh have always been legitimate. And outrageous statements in an attempt to discredit it. This is a gross mistake, no matter who is guided by what," she said.

Speaking about the upcoming elections in Azerbaijan, she noted that the elections in Azerbaijan will in no way change the situation in terms of Karabakh. On the contrary, one should expect tougher aggressive rhetoric. According to the first Ombudsman, a demonstration of democratic changes in Azerbaijan worsens the situation, while at the same time pursuing the goal of lulling vigilance. It was the forces that positioned themselves as democrats who organized the latest pogroms of Armenians, Larisa Alaverdyan emphasized.
