In the current talks, Armenia doesn’t have a favorable agenda. This is what politician Davit Shahanazaryan said during the conference hosted by Voskanapat analytical center today, stating that he is referring to the Vienna-Saint Petersburg-Geneva agenda.

“This issue started being discussed in 2012, and after April 2016, it was the only issue on the agenda. It concerned the line of contact between Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic) and Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan was in a trap. Unfortunately, Armenia no longer has that agenda because of the Armenian authorities’ efforts,” he said.

According to Shahnazaryan, the incumbent authorities of Armenia immediately stated that the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh definitely have to participate in the negotiations, but since this wasn’t stated professionally, now Armenia is in a situation where the so-called ‘Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh’ is becoming legitimate.

He added that there is not much talk about the right of nations to self-determination, which used to lie at the core of the negotiations. Shahnazaryan also noted that he hasn’t noticed the Armenian authorities talk about major issues at all or state that Azerbaijan unleashed and continued the war. “Azerbaijan has been presenting itself as the victim of aggression over the past months, but the Armenian authorities aren’t talking about this at all. It is the first time that Azerbaijan and the international community are on one side, and Armenia seems to be on another side and, in this sense, isolated,” he said.
