Russian President Vladimir Putin invited five permanent members of the UN Security Council to hold a joint security event, RIA Novosti reported.

According to him, such a meeting would play a huge role in the search for collective answers to pressing challenges and threats.

He suggested holding an event with the participation of the heads of state of Russia, China, the US, France and the UK. He called the possible meeting important and symbolic in connection with the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II and the founding of the UN.

The forum is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz by Soviet troops on January 23, 1945.
