The White House is considering the possibility of changing the rules for introducing surveillance of citizens suspected of creating a threat to national security, Wall Street Journal reported referring to sources.

Senior officials in Washington, among other things, are considering changes to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

According to the source, they propose introducing a provision that allows authorized bodies to inform citizens after being monitored that they were being monitored.

Currently, the initiative is under discussion, Gazeta reported.

Some presidential office workers fear that proponents of the change might go too far, but officials working on the amendments say the change will not affect the authorities’s primary oversight powers.
