Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is playing the role of a unique geopolitical “traffic light;” his statements symbolize a "red light." David Babayan, newly appointed adviser to the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) President on foreign policy, stated this at the request of Armenian News-NEWS.am, commenting on the recent statements by the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev..

"They [Azerbaijan] can no longer control the hatred of Armenians (...). (…) There are many contradictions in his [Aliyev] words (...). (…). This is just a cacophony. There is no logic in what he says. (…). Ilham Aliyev reaffirms the discriminatory policy of the Azerbaijani authorities. (…). In other words, every time it is shown that a colonial policy has been pursued in Karabakh. (…). What he [Aliyev] says is, in fact, is playing the role of a geopolitical ‘traffic light;’ it shows a ‘red light’ every time," Babayan stressed, in particular.

At the same time, he noted the absurdity of the encroachments on the ancient Artsakh Armenian city of Shushi. David Babayan added that Shushi has always been an Armenian city and was founded as the capital city of the Armenian state.
