Iranian President Hassan Rouhani called on citizens to comply with medical protocols to successfully combat the COVID-19 pandemic, Tasnim reported.

Addressing a Saturday session of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters, Rouhani said that the peak incidence rate has already passed in several provinces in Iran, while in a number of other provinces the peak incidence rate is gradual.

He also expressed concern that since the beginning of May, compliance with medical protocols in the country has decreased by 20%.

The Iranian President assured the citizens that the authorities had prepared enough beds, ventilators and medical equipment to deal with the pandemic in the most difficult conditions, while urging citizens to comply with the rules introduced by the health ministry, wash their hands and wear masks regularly.

Rouhani added that he had given the provincial governors the authority to impose restrictions in case of situations of concern.

According to the latest data from the Iranian health ministry, the total number of COVID-19 cases has reached 182545, 145,000 of which have already recovered.

Iran has conducted nearly 1.2 million tests.
