The Bureau of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly has issued a statement addressed to the heads of state or government of EU member states and leaders from Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries ahead of the videoconference.

The National Assembly of Armenia told Armenian News-NEWS.am that the statement of the Bureau of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly is a major and fundamental document that lays down the strategic directions and vision for cooperation between EU and EaP countries, reaffirming, in the very first formulation, the commitment of Eastern Partnership countries to the values underlying the initiative, highlighting the right to self-determination among the core values of the Eastern Partnership.

“This statement is a strategic document adopted and agreed upon by the European Parliament and the heads of the parliamentary delegations of the EaP countries (Armenia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Azerbaijan) and is a result of long and difficult negotiations,” head of the Armenian Delegation to the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, member of the Bureau Gayane Abrahamyan said.

It is necessary to stress that the statement also separately highlights the importance of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which defines a framework for deepening the Armenia-EU partnership, supports Armenia’s ongoing political and economic reforms by the EU, as well as STRENGTHENS ARMENIA’S ROLE IN MAINTAINING REGIONAL SECURITY AND PEACE.
