YEREVAN. – The court session on the criminal case against second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan and several other former senior officials has resumed Tuesday at the Shengavit district court of the Yerevan court of general jurisdiction.

Earlier, presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan had adjourned the trial because the ex-president had undergone surgery, and former defense minister Seyran Ohanyan’s attorneys had tested positive for COVID-19.

While the trial was adjourned, on June 18, the Criminal Court of Appeal ruled in favor of Robert Kocharyan's lawyers' appeal of the first-instance court decision denying the motion to commute the precautionary measure of arrest that had been carried out regarding him. And on June 20, Kocharyan was released from custody on bail of 2 billion drams—more than US$4 million.
