Indian interior minister Amit Shah said he had tested positive for COVID-19, Interfax reported.

Shah, 55, tweeted he was tested after showing the first symptoms of COVID-19. 

According to him, he is doing fine and was hospitalized on the advice of doctors.

The minister asked everyone who has contacted him in recent days to isolate themselves and get tested. A ministry official declined to answer when Shah last met PM Narendra Modi.

India has 1,750,724 COVID-19 cases. The death toll has reached 37,364.
