It is the duty and function of police to follow and make sure citizens observe the anti-epidemic rules. This is what Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Commandant for the state of emergency Tigran Avinyan said during a special session of the National Assembly today.

Avinyan stated that he couldn’t state the total number of citizens fined for not wearing face masks, but there were 3,800 cases yesterday, adding that this is not good because it means citizens still aren’t following the anti-epidemic rules properly. “In reality, the effective work of the police has a certain impact on the anti-epidemic situation and the numbers,” he said.

Avinyan also recalled that there is a special exception for citizens with chronic diseases who don’t wear face masks with an indication given by a doctor. “None of us wants to live with face masks forever, especially in open spaces. It’s hard, but we need to learn so that we can prevent the spread of the coronavirus. This is the road we are taking and must take,” he added.
