Vietnam's health ministry has registered to buy the Russian COVID-19 vaccine, state TV reported, as the country is grappling with a new COVID-19 outbreak after months of no local cases.

Vietnam will also continue to develop its own vaccine against COVID-19, said state broadcaster Vietnam Television (VTV).

Vietnam has 911 COVID-19 cases, the death toll is 21.

Russia said Wednesday that the first batch of the world's first COVID-19 vaccine will be ready to be deployed within two weeks.
