Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed developments in the Eastern Mediterranean with US President Donald Trump, Kathimerini reported.

During the phone talk, Mitsotakis raised the issue of Turkey's destabilizing actions, which threaten peace and stability in the region and test NATO cohesion.

According to Mitsotakis, Greece is ready to make a significant contribution to de-escalation, provided that Turkey immediately stops all provocative actions.

Phil Reeker, a senior US State Department official for European affairs, said Turkey’s actions in the region undermine the unity of the NATO alliance, the newspaper said, citing a letter Ricoeur wrote to the American Hellenic Institute (AHI).

NATO has already called for dialogue to ease tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in turn, promised yesterday that Turkey will not make concessions in the region and Ankara is determined to do everything necessary to ensure its rights in the Black, Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. The Turkish president also called on Greece to avoid mistakes that could lead to death.
