I believe the leader of any country is concerned about who will be the next leader. This is what second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan said in an interview with RBK.

Asked if this was the reason why he handed power over to Serzh Sargsyan when he was leaving politics in 2008, thinking that he is leaving once and for all, Kocharyan said the following: “Yes, partially. I believe the leader of any country is concerned about who will be the next leader. It is natural when you want to see a person who will continue your political course. You are responsible for this and want it to continue. This is a deeper issue than just transfer of power.”

When asked if he was disappointed with the actions that Serzh Sargsyan took in 2018, Kocharyan stated that he was obviously disappointed.
