Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan today received His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians.
Expressing gratitude for accepting the invitation to meet, the parliamentary speaker stated that the parliament is currently considering a number of publicly resonant issues related to Church-State and Church-educational system relations and added that the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church continues its close cooperation with the State for the welfare of the Armenian people in the 21st century.
The Catholicos of All Armenians expressed gratitude for the reception and stated that there are many issues facing the Armenian people and country and that the mission of the National Assembly is very important for resisting those challenges. He added that the Armenian Holy Apostolic Church has worked closely with the National Assembly since Armenia’s declaration of independence and that the cooperation has been fruitful for the development of legislation regulating Church-State relations.
Mirzoyan and His Holiness Karekin II touched upon issues related to international conventions and educational criteria, and His Holiness Karekin II reaffirmed that the Church will continue its efforts for reinforcement of Armenia, strengthening of the Armenian government and for the happiness, peace and security of the Armenian people.
