YEREVAN. – During the last month we had less than 200 cases of coronavirus per day, whereas in the last two days the number of cases has significantly increased from 200; we had 257 the day before and 295 yesterday. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this at Thursday's Cabinet meeting of the government of Armenia.

"It is true that the number of [COVID-19] tests [conducted in the country] is large; we had 4,319 tests yesterday, 4,135—the day before. Let me recall that in the most difficult period, the daily number of tests did not reach 3,000; however, the trend is worrying," added the PM.

Deputy Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, in her turn, noted that they notice a percentage increase in the positive test results, today it is 7 percent, which is worrying. "In the first few weeks we will see what results we are registering as a result of the [re]opening of schools," she added.

Pashinyan noted that during this period there is one proven tool in the fight against coronavirus, and that is wearing a face mask. "When I see what is happening in other countries, I am becoming more convinced that our strategy—that we have to learn to live with the coronavirus—is the right track," he added.
